Kristina Libby came to painting after suffering a traumatic brain injury in 2019. Her paintings depict imagined lost islands, far off mountains, and the endlessly changing sea and skyscapes that she loves. These paintings are intended to provide a radical act of escapism: a return to nature.

This oil on canvas painting depicts a moment in the French countryside as the painter lost her way home and had to navigate by the moonlight in a heavy fog. Part of a series of abstracted paintings in darkness, it portrays the moment of moonlight breaking the clouds.
