{"id":1264,"date":"2016-09-09T08:54:16","date_gmt":"2016-09-09T08:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwomanfoundation.com\/?p=1264"},"modified":"2016-09-09T08:54:16","modified_gmt":"2016-09-09T08:54:16","slug":"sheryl-sandberg-joins-surveymonkeys-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldwomanfoundation.com\/cannesagenda2025\/sheryl-sandberg-joins-surveymonkeys-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheryl Sandberg Joins SurveyMonkey\u2019s Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body-text\">Sheryl Sandberg is taking a seat on the board of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/\">SurveyMonkey<\/a>, her late husband\u2019s online survey and polling company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\">Ms. Sandberg, chief operating officer of Facebook and author of the book \u201cLean In,\u201d unexpectedly lost her husband, Dave Goldberg, while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/05\/03\/business\/dave-goldberg-47-surveymonkey-chief-and-sheryl-sandbergs-husband-dies.html\">on vacation in May<\/a>. Since then she has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sheryl\/posts\/10155617891025177:0\">published<\/a> on Facebook a widely read post on her widowhood and on the necessity of moving forward during grief.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\">In a SurveyMonkey statement announcing Ms. Sandberg\u2019s appointment to the board, she spoke of the company\u2019s mission as trying \u201cto help people make better decisions.\u201d Besides its use for things like election polls and customer satisfaction surveys, SurveyMonkey is employed by managers to judge employee morale, and by Wall Street to gauge how well products are doing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\">As a board member, Ms. Sandberg said she would \u201chelp to realize Dave\u2019s vision of building a lasting company that will impact the way we all do business.\u201d She declined a request for a separate interview.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\">During Mr. Goldberg\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/06\/22\/technology\/how-surveymonkey-is-coping-after-death-of-dave-goldberg.html\">six years<\/a> as chief executive, SurveyMonkey grew from a company with a staff of 14 to one with 550 employees and a valuation of about $2 billion. He was a \u201csignificant\u201d shareholder in the company, according to Bennett Porter, a company spokeswoman. The privately held company is considered likely to go public sometime soon, though Ms. Porter said there were no current plans to do so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\">Besides Ms. Sandberg, the company appointed David Ebersman to its board. Mr. Ebersman, who is co-founder and chief executive of Lyra Health, a company that specializes in behavioral health issues like depression and substance abuse, was previously chief financial officer of Facebook, and took the social network through a difficult initial public offering in 2012.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\">Zander Lurie, a senior executive at GoPro who since Mr. Goldberg\u2019s death has served as the temporary executive chairman of SurveyMonkey, was named chairman.
